Can I sell my DirecTV reciever if my service was disconnected due to non payment?

I have 1 DirecTV Receiver that is fairly new. I need to know if I can sell it and it be activated on another person’s account even though my service was disconnected due to non payment.

I also have 3 Dish Network receivers. Same case with these also.

I’m looking for a “demand for payment” template?
For comcast cable, how many days past the due date does the payment have to be to make it late?
suppose my payment is due on certain day and i dont pay it. from what day they start counting past due?
I had 2 credit accounts with Capital one I haven’t paid back my monthly payment in the past 5 years?

What are the tax consequences for senior citizens who have to sell their homes to pay for medical bills?

My parents are in their 70’s and my father has Alzheimer’s. They have decided to sell their home and should clear about 85K from the sale. I would like them to move closer to me (I’m their daugther) and rent a small apartment until we see how my father’s health progresses.

Will they have to pay income tax on the 85K from the sale of their home? They don’t have a lot of income – they live on their Social Security and about $500 from a small pension and an annuity.

We were hoping to bank the 85K for future use in case my father needs to go into assisted living when his Alzheimer’s gets worse.

Our house is on a busy main street that is only going to get busier in the future however we have a small mortgage and have lots of privacy. We have owned it for about 8 yrs. Because of the buildup around us (most of which is commercial), we might want to move but our area is expensive. Basically we own an affordable home (3 beds 2 baths) in an area that is largely unaffordable.

Is it better to stay in a home in which we have lots of equity but will not appreciate as fast because of its location. Or should we consider a move (within our town) for a better location but a bigger mortgage payment and less equity?
Thanks for the answers – I am thinking we will decide to stay – we have 3 kids and the expense of moving plus additional mort. payments does not sound appealing. We just have to wait and see. Plus our market area is soft.

if i sell my business for 100,000 profit can i have the money put directly into annuities so we only pay tax?

sorry i didnt see i was limited to characters. my understanding on annuities is that you only pay tax on the money you take out of the account . would it still be labled capital gains and still be subject to tax any way?

My annuity is included in my IRA. I’m 61. Can I sell it for its cash value? That is about $19K.?

After separating and before divorcing, my now ex-husband agreed through the court system to pay full rent to live at our house while I moved back home with my parents. That was fine with me b/c I couldn’t afford the note at the time and he could but he carelessly let the house slip into foreclosure b/c he got behind on the payments. Skipping ahead to the present, nobody lives there now and it’s been on the market but hasn’t been able to sell. It’s going to auction in 2 1/2 weeks with both of our names on the title but only mine on the mortgage so only I will be penalized if it auctions. Our last ditch effort is selling the house as is for the base price with no profit (which is fine by me) and we’ve started the process and will be able to meet the deadlines except now our only problem is getting him to sign the contract as well. He is very spiteful and we think he won’t do it. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe a pay-off for him to do it but I am already broke as it is. Please help me with my bleak-looking future.

Sell or rent my property?

I purchased a 2 bdrm/2bath in late 2005 in DC. I put 10% down on the property and currently paying interest only on a 7 year ARM. Everyone knows the market is in a free fall and I will probably lose money if I sell right now. I have a 2 yr. old with another child on the way this year and the place is getting too small. My wife and I want to move to a bigger place. Should I continue paying interest only payments on a place that is losing money or wait out the real estate strorm and rent the unit? I will rent a bigger place for myself and family however, risk paying rent and mortgage if I have issues with a future tenant.
My ARM is fixed for 7 years. So my rate is locked until 2012.

Bridge loan on other house that we own (no mortgage) to buy a new home and we can’t sell old home. Fourclose?

Wanted to buy a new home (awesome deal, couldn’t pass up, $100,000 less than original asking price) we were currently trying to sell our other house we owned (no mortgage) so the bank talked us into a bridge loan for a year. We are having trouble selling the house and only have about 5 months to sell it before the bridge loan is up and we would have to take out another loan with a payment we can’t afford. Our loan officer told us we might have to foreclose and it would not hurt our new home because we are making the payments and are even ahead on the payments. We plan on staying at the new home and won’t be buying a new home anytime in the future. How will this affect our credit on other purchases? This is the last thing I want to happen is to fourclose.

Keep the truck and pay it off or sell it to get closer to being debt free?

Ok, I have been on a venture to become debt free, including mortgage, so that I can save up a huge downpayment and move to a nice, big house in a good neighborhood. I am about 2 weeks away from becoming credit card debt free. I have 2 cars, one is a very reliable Honda Civic that I only owe 4500 on, and I have a 07 Dodge Ram that I owe 17k on. I owe 115k on my house. If I were to sell the truck I would free up 17k in debt and nearly $400/mo in payments- and I would come out with probably $3000 cash after selling it (nearly enough to pay off the Civic). However, I love my truck and I would hate to part with it. Is it smarter to sell it now and try to become debt free as quickly as possible and just buy another truck that I love with cash in the future? I know becoming debt-free takes sacrifices, but is it worth selling my 4×4 in Colorado to become debt free first?

my fiance and i are a young couple with a 4 y/o son. We both work and still cant make ends meet. Because of the economy and lack of work in our community we need to sell our home and relocate. (if we stay in our small town we will loose everything, there isnt enough work anymore to keep all the bills paid.) my fiance was offered a great job far from where we live now, and we really need to take this opportunity in order to be able to have a financialy stabel future for ourselfs and our son. The only problem is we own a home that we need to sell. We would like to make a little profit so we can afford to pay off unpaid bills, have money to relocate, be able to put down deposits if we have to rent where we move, or down payment if we decide to buy another home. Our home has the ability to sell for much more than we paid, it just needs some repairs that would increase the value of our home tremendously. (Such as a huge inground pool in the back yard that doesnt work, it needs a little tile to look nice and a new pump to function) the yard needs landscaping, the outside needs painting and a few minor cosmetic repairs on the inside would TRANSFORM our home and increase the value. Is there any help for people like us? Loans are out of the question because we can hardly pay our bills now so our credit has really gone down hill. Besides that we wouldnt have the money to start paying the loan off until we sold the home, moved and got back on our feet. Who would give a young couple with bad credit a loan, and let us wait a year to start paying it back. *ANYWAY* Is there any advice anyone can give us. We are desperate. House – can’t sell, can’t rent out.?

I bought a house two years ago and my loan was through USDA Rural Development. Than time I was single mother with a son. Now I’m going to get married and move with my futhure husband to another state. But I have the house! I tried to sell without making any profit, absolutely for what I paid – market in our town is dead right now, nothing sells for year and more even for such money. I need somehow cover my loan payments. I thought to rent the house out. And here is problem too – I was told I cannot do this because loan was giving for residential property and if I will rent it out it will be commercial. I’m stuck with the house. I see only one way – just return the house to USDA and that’s all. I know this will ruin my excellent credit history. What else I can do? Anyway now I can’t get another mortgage with my future husband (we are moving in another state) having this loan payment. Did anybody have such problem? What I can do? Thank you for your help.

We have a house that we started buying 3 years ago we have now outgrown it but because of the drop in house prices the mortgage we have on it is now what its worth. We put it up for sale last august and it didn’t sell it has since dropped £15,000 in value we now can’t get another mortgage to buy our next house as the bank will only lend us 80% and we haven’t got the equity or the savings to put down a 20% deposit so we are wondering do we sell and rent and face the posibility of never owning our own home again because we need the space or do we stay in this house with no room because in 20 years we will own it? any ideas on what we should do we are really struggling and also worried that if the house prices drop much further the house won’t even be worth what we are paying for it anyway? I know so many people are in worse positions than us and I am grateful we have a roof over our head but we are just trying to do whats best to avoid being in a worse position in the future ie making mortgage payments on a house thats worth half of the value. Another thing we are worried about is that I work for HBOS so I could potentially loose my job at any moment and my husband works for a company contracted by ford so he is also in the position were he could loose his job at any moment so we think we might be safer to rent as we could get help with the rent if we lost our jobs. Any advice would be much apreciated?

Even though I bought my primary residence in CA back in 2003, the price it will sell for has fallen dramatically. I have not added any debt to the original loan amount. If I sell the house (if that’s even possible) at the market price that is lower than the loan amount, what happens to the $50K difference? Does the original lender force me into a personal loan with a huge interest rate? Do I have to declare bankruptcy? Are there any other options? I already tried short sale and my lender won’t consider it because I have not missed any payments. I cannot afford to continue making payments in the future however so I really need to get rid of this house. Thanks for the help.
I don’t have $50k available to give to the lender.
Ok but how would the $50K be paid for? Can the lender block the sale if you don’t cough up $50K on the spot? What’s the deal?

Okay i was in a car accident when i was four. Drunk driver 18 wheeler. Made it out alive By the Grace of God.
We sued, when i turned 18 i started receiving checks from the settlement money. the way it set up is 2500 twice a year until i’m 21 it will stop for a few years & then at like 25 & 27 i will receive a big check
& then it will be done.
Not bad right?
well currently i don’t have a job and i still live at home everyone here is experiencing financial troubles,
I used to think it would be dumb to get the money out early because the people who would do it for me would charge to much, not that i’m sure at all of what they’ll charge.
But now that the money is needed so badly i am considering just going and getting the lump sum.
What should I do? Help.

I’m going to buy a house in the near future and plan to sell all of my stock for the down payment. I inherited it at the beginning of 2008 when the Dow was around 13,000. It was worth about $790,000 then. Now it’s worth $689,652. Will I have to pay federal or California state taxes when I sell? I have an accountant who will figure it all out for me when the time comes but I need to get a sense now to help me figure out what I can afford. My tax rate is 25% federal, 9.5% state (I think).

So I’m getting married June or July of 2010 and we’re trying to combine up our things. We both have Range Rovers and it is pointless to have two of them since we have other cars anyway so we’re trying to figure out which one to sell.

So which one would you keep?

Mine is a 2007 and his is a 2006, I have about 2.5 years left of payments and he’s got a little more than 1 year left. Both of the Range Rovers are supercharged and black with tinted windows. Mine is completely done out by Asanti (rims, grill, portholes, everything). His just has some expensive sound system (that he doesn’t even use) and custom rims and that’s it. So which one would be better to keep?

His has less payments left on it but mine is newer and done up, thus making it easier to sell in the future…right??

1)Does a criminal background stop you from being able to get a license (and by criminal background I mean: I was 18, got in a fight had guilt (adjudication) withheld on a 3rd or 1st (whichever is the least bad) felony. So technically, no guilt.

2)I checked the South and North Carolina requirements and it almost made it seem as if you had to have a degree just to get a license. Is this correct?

We bought a $250,000 house last year and have a $90,000 30 year mortgage on it. We live in a nice peacefull village. My husband is getting a new job and is taking a significant pay cut. We should be able make our payments just fine as long as we watch what we spend. I’m in college and we will have a significant income increase in about 3-4 years. We are nervous about the economy and jobs and were thinking about moving to a town about 30 miles north of here where the houses are a lot cheaper. We could buy a decent house outright. Not quite as nice as we have now but still very acceptable. Although the community isn’t quite as nice as our current one(we basically live in pleasantville) it is still nice with decent schools for our 2 boys. It also has cheaper taxes and cost of living. There is a great church there that I used to attend as a child also. We just keep thinking about what all that extra money could mean for the future of our family. What would you do?

I have been offered a job with a financial company that is a broker who sells cd’s, fixed annuities, IRA’s etc and was told that you have to have very good credit in order to get your license and be appointed by the larger insurance companies whose products you will be selling. If so what sort of items are looking for on your credit report.

I’m up to my neck in student loans ($70k) and have a structured settlement for the next twenty years. I have a guy scouting things out for me that says a company will buy it for $280k when it’s total value – over the twenty years – is $620k. He also claims that if the money is put in the right places, it can accumulate more than that in twenty years as well as pay my loans off immediately. Any advice?
