what will be the effect on settlement of adjacent structure due to deep excavation?

    Generally, unless special measures are taken, soil will tend to move down and laterally towards the excavation because of the removal of horizontal restraint. As a result, the adjacent buildings will experience differential settlement.

    Excavation will remove the horizontal force provided by earth to the foundation. It is recommended to build additional support to avoid doing damage to the building.
